Which Book about Career Advancement Should Everyone Own?

I am a strong proponent of the idea that we all have the opportunity to be lifelong learners and teachers.  There is always something new to experience or an unknown subject area in which to immerse yourself.  Even if you are an expert in your chosen profession, I imagine there is still a way that you can hone your skills further.  Concerning your skills as an educator, do you take the opportunity to mentor a new arrival in your office?  Do you look for outreach and networking opportunities that challenge you to explain your perspective to others?

One of the most important tools at your disposal as you develop knowledge in your chosen field is a great collection of books.  There are so many great experts in their profession who have taken the time to share what they know with others.  In fact, I know that quite a few people who read and contribute to this blog have books currently on the market as I’ve read and enjoyed them.

So, when it comes to books that focus on career development and professional advancement, what is the one must-have title that you would recommend to someone who needs a great foundation in these concepts?  Why is this book the best starting point for learners?

I look forward to reading your comments and perhaps discovering a new book to add to my library!

For those who would like to read my proven advice for accelerating your career and reaching those professional goals that have eluded you, I hope you will read and share my book Act As If It Were Impossible to Fail.  And, I would love to have your feedback after you are done!
